520 _aFollow Hope, the hare with big dreams, through her journey of courage, self-discovery and healing. Hope the hare becomes ill, and has to find the resilience and courage to undertake an arduous journey to a frightening forest in search of the reputed Mysterious Stream, which is rumoured to have healing powers. Initially, the water from the steam makes Hope feel even more ill, and she loses her fur, but she perseveres in drinking it and in time fully recovers. In the Author's Note, Amy V. Leonard explains that, after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis, she was worried about explaining to her three year old daughter how her mother's body would change when undergoing during chemotherapy, but found that inventing funny stories about animals and people losing their hair put her little girl at ease with these changes. Colour picturebook with short text. Audience: Child 2 - 7 years.
